Week Ten of FMP

Week Ten of FMP Monday - I spoke with my teacher about my bustles and she said my technique was right and I just need to add some extra supports to make it stand up better and hold the weight. I then trialed making some different flowers but I didn’t really like them so I think I’m just going to use the same technique as I’m doing for the petals at the bottom of the dress as the flower. Tuesday and Wednesday - with a fresh head today I was able to finished my shift dress by adding the gathered asymmetrical skirt but I found it wasn’t dramatic enough so I’m my final I’m going to try and improve this. I then took photos of both my finished jacket and shift dress on a Monday so I could check how they were stilling and I wrote down all my adjustments and tweaks I wanted to making. Like on my shift dress I needed to raise the bottom seam so that it covers the models private parts. And tweaking the jacket to be more asymmetrically on the shirt. I also completed my blog for the week. Thursday - we had group critique where I showed all of my toiles, book work and folder work. I didn’t get much feedback this week just that I need to make sure I was on top of my time plan and not to fall behind. Friday - today I started my final making as my fabric finally arrived and I cut out all of my pattern pieces for all of my garments so I could sort them into pile and make sure I had what I needed. This did take all ah but I feel it was important todo so I knew I had enough fabric.  I also made any tweaks and changes to my patterns today with my shift dress and jacket. Saturday - today I started my corset and I sewed all the panel pieces together, trimmed off the seam allowance then sewed the boning channels in. I then cut the spiral binging down to size then capped the ends and inserted it in and sewed then into place. Sunday - I sewed the facing the eyelet channels in today on my corset. Then I decided I need a change of task so I made my asymmetrical bustles. This included a lot of hand sewing and stitching it together and adding supports and hold everything in place but I found it all quite therapeutic todo. I’d already cut out all my boning and put it in casing so I just had to hand sew the details together.
