Week 1
Week 1
On Monday we moved straight into making mood boards and designs for my white in white dress. I started by pulling all the samples out of my book that inspired me and a lot a few images of garments offline. I then collated all of these on a large A2 pieces of paper. I worked with the samples to find a layout that I liked, to then take from when designing. After this, I started design I started by just doing some basic sketches of the samples like one line drawings and left hand drawings. These then stemmed into me using clear paper to draw designs onto.
Tuesday this week, we continued working on still life drawing this time with a female model. We did a variation or experimental drawings including blind contrast, left hand and timed drawings, I found this really improved my skills and helped me no focus too much on tiny details and unimportant details of the drawings. I fully enjoyed this process and I’ve learnt a lot about proportions.
On Wednesday, I took a trip to bath spa university which was a beautiful campus but a disappointing course for me as it just didn’t have garment construction and making, it was more about designing and illustration.
I continued with my portfolio pages on Thursday, breaking straight into my my white shirt pattern cutting page which I really loved, I did spend a lot of the day shrinking down my pages to get them to a suitably size for the page.
