Week 2
Week 2
Monday - in pattern cutting today, we individually followed a video of how to make a front fly trouser zip. This was slightly confusing at some points and the vidoe jumped around steps abut which made me struggle a bit to get it right, but I do feel overall my sample was a success. My areas to improve is equal out the displacement on the top pieces at I’ve displayed it perfectly at the bottom but I’d missed it slightly at the top so this is something I want to improve on my next sample.
Tuesday - we started different print techniques for Pattern crazy. Today we did mono printing which I really enjoyed because I wanted to focus on layering my work and building it up so that I don’t lose focus of what I’m trying to achieve and how so that paper doesn’t get blurry. I feel I was able to successfully layer my drawings and mixing the media.
Wednesday - today we did a collar and revere, I didn’t find this too challenging but I did struggling as with alot what we did, didn’t have an explanation we just had to trust the maths ,which was a bit difficult todo for me as I like to know why I’m doing something. But I did trust the process and mange to come out with an outcome I was proud of. We also made our facing for the back and front as apart of this.
Thursday - I enjoyed a lot of what we did today as it was all creative and about pushing my ideas outside of the box using different techniques. We started with breakdown printing with analikies which are dyes in watercolour form. We then tried oil pastels which weren’t as smooth to go on and the pigment didn’t last as long in the screens but they did come out with some nice images. My favourite part of this process layering the watercolour and then the oil pastel as the more I broke down the image you could see the different layers of colours, I fell this distorted the image more and grave me more the work and develop from. After this we had ago at gelli printing. This was a new process and I did struggle a bit to full get to grips with what I was doing and how the best to do everything but I did manage to come out with a few sting outcomes that I felt I could use and layer digitally.
