Week Nine of FMP

Week Nine of FMP Monday - I started today by testing out how I was going to achieve the shape of the petals for my main dress.  I tried over locking the edges then I tried adding a singly strip of nylon boning into the baby locking which worked really well and I’m going to do this for my final piece. Today I also started working on my jacket patterns, this includes the top with the sleeves and wrap on the jacket which was quite simple and straightforward, then I started working on the skirt half which was abit more tricky trying to work out the angles that I would need for the seams to line up perfectly but I would putting the patterns on the mannequin so I could physically seeing what they were looking like really helpful. This also ment I could make tweaks to the length easier to match the models height as I set the Manniquin to be her height. Tuesday - I continue working on my jacket patterns today and finished them. I then continued working on my bustles because I still hadn’t found a shape that worked to hold the weight and size. I made about 4 different versions of the bustles today but I had to leave it for abit as I was struggling woo much with it and wanted to ask my lecture about it. Wednesday - today I focused blogging, and the fashion show prep I sorted out the raffle and made it all into a spread sheet. Thursday - today I made my shift dress toile. I found that me seams pulled apart so i had to French seam everything but that’s good that I know so I’m my packet and final garments I can French seam everything so my sheer fabric doesn’t pull. Friday - today I finally managed to finish the technique I wanted to use for my final garments. But I was still struggling to make it the size I liked so I still wanted to bring it to my lecture to get a second opinion. Saturday - i made my toile today. I started by cutting out all my fabric then sewing the top half of the jacket together. Then sewing all the pieces of the skirt together then I tried to attach it to the waist and realised I had sewing the back panel upside down so I had to unpick the whole skirt and start again. But after that I had finished it and was proud of how it was looking I just wanted to raise one side t the front to me more of a dramatic angle so you can see there meant to be two lengths and asymmetrical.
