Week 3

Week 3 

 Monday - Over the weekend I made my patterns for my white on white dress so on Monday I came in early and cut out all my pieces for my toile, this was mostly just the under skirt and bodice so I could test the position of the seams to make sure they match my vision from my design. 

Tuesday - after finishing the toile yesterday I started working on my final. I started with the skirt cutting out all of the underskirt pieces and sewing all the seams and darts. I then started to add the gathered netting for the tutu. I sewed all on with an industrial sewing machine but found it was too long. So I cut about 3 inches out of the middle and shorted it so that it sits nicer on the body and has a more poofy effect. 

Wednesday - I started working on the bodice today, I cut out all the of bodice pieces and layed out all of the lace on top to plan out how they’d all fit together. I then sewed each piece on with a clear thread on the sewing machine. This was quite time consuming but looked really good in the end. 

Thursday - I was able to sew together my bodice, make my bias binding and sew it onto my bodice and then attach the bodice to the skirt as it was rather straight forward. In the evening I then hand sewed the gathering and draping my around the top of the skirt, draping it based off my mood board.
